The atmosphere at Lazio's home ground was far from happy during the weekend fixture. The Youngster's Unforeseen Presence
One individual kept smiling amid the chaos. Matteo Cancellieri wasn't originally meant to remain with Lazio during this campaign. He spent the last one on loan at Parma and, early this summer, Lazio were advocating for him to extend his stay for another season. The transfer ban led to a change of plans. Cancellieri arrived in the first place when Sarri was last in charge, at that time a 20-year-old graduate of Verona's academy. He recorded 20 league appearances in Lazio colors in the 2022-23 season, almost all of those coming off the bench. Discovering His True Position
Perhaps the manager was still trying to work out the specific characteristics of the player's talent. Originally described as a flank player on arrival, Cancellieri yet was deployed for the majority of that term as an unconvincing alternative to Ciro Immobile in the striker role.
